Vocational Graduate Diploma of Relationship Counselling


The Vocational Graduate Diploma of Relationship Counselling is a new step for Australia’s family and relationship support workers. It provides practical on the job skills and specialised industry knowledge that has been developed over 60 years.
 

Who is this for?

The qualification was created in response to significant changes in the family law system and the creation of several new and extended services for families.

It is designed for professionals with qualifications and experience in counselling or similar work and who wish to further develop their skills in working with families, couples and/or children. 
 

Course content

There are five topics of study, including a placement. The topics are offered as intensive blocks over two to four days. All topics can be completed within one year. The learning and assessment program is delivered using a variety of learning activities including role play, discussion, small group exercises and supervised placement. Topics included are:
 

  • Relationship counselling & family domestic violence
  • Theories & approaches
  • Working with children & young people
  • Supervision & self management
  • Placement.

Assessement

Assessment will include a variety of practical and written tasks designed to offer maximum opportunity for participants to demonstrate their learning. There are no formal examinations.
