Resource Development
The Institute has considerable experience in resource development for community service practice.
Diversity issues, mental health and youth work are strong areas of expertise. We have developed information, guidelines and protocols about mental health, domestic violence, hepatitis C, alternative care issues and cultural competency.
We have also developed a wide range of learning resources for community service workers and community sector organisations. These include:
- Formal self-paced materials for the Certificate IV in Youth Work
- Materials for shorter courses aligned to national competencies on topics such as Responding to Crisis, Facilitating Cooperative Behaviour and Facilitating Learning
- Square - an online, suicide prevention resource for anyone who works with people at risk of suicide
- Taking Care With Culture – a guide for Home & Community Care services working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.
- Point of Contact – a training resource for responding to children and domestic violence.
Part of our commitment to ongoing learning involves a recognition that resources and materials that relate specifically to individual learners and workplaces make learning more accessible.
Learning resources also assist workplaces to provide induction and individual training programs which are tailored to the requirements of their workplace.
