Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands

The Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands is 100,000 sq kms of Aboriginal country in the far north west of South Australia. The Department for Families and Communities operates youth programs in many of the communities on the Lands.

Youth workers in these remote communities run after school and school holiday recreation programs. Just like youth programs in the city, these are designed so that the young ones can have fun, build skills and confidence and connect positively with each other. The Department has contracted Relationships Australia (SA) to deliver nationally recognised training in the Certificate III, IV and Diploma of Youth Work to these workers. As part of this learning program we produce a special Anangu youth worker's newsletter as a way to demonstrate the developing skills and knowledge of these workers and promote positive images of young people across the Lands.
