Workforce Development

We provide workforce development training customised to organisations’ needs covering a wide range of topic areas.

We are committed to:

  • Developing relevant skills, qualifications and career paths for workers
  • Creating supportive learning cultures in the workplace
  • Excellence in service delivery.

We do this by:

  • Supporting the workplace as a developing and interactive learning environment
  • Ensuring that the training offered accurately reflects and responds to the needs of workers, the organisation and their clients
  • Wherever possible, assisting staff at all levels of an organisation to access a nationally recognised, competency based training pathway that recognises the skills and abilities they bring to the organisation
  • Ensuring that competency based training aligned to national competencies is delivered both on- and off-the-job in a timely and responsive manner, and that it is regularly evaluated and adjusted to meet the needs of the specific organisations and workers.

Skills for Working

The Institute offers customised training packages that we can tailor specifically for your organisations needs. We can provide the training at our location or we can bring the training to you. We provide workforce development to both regional and rural organisations.

Examples of some of the Skills for Working programs we produce include:

  • Inter-Cultural Communication
  • Difficult Behaviours in the Workplace
  • Facilitating a Group
  • Managing Stress
  • Public Speaking.

We also offer a range of Basic Counselling Skills courses that are popular:

  • The Accidental Counsellor
  • Basic Counselling Skills
  • Extended Counselling Skills.

More information about these and more courses can be found in the Relationships Australia (SA) Course Brochure (link). Or you can call the Institute on (08) 8245 8100 to ask for more information.

Projects

A key strategy for supporting effective workplace learning and promoting quality service delivery is the building of partnerships with employers.

We have worked with funding bodies, umbrella agencies and large organisations to identify training needs and develop learning cultures within workforces.

An example of such a project includes:

  • Learning Guide for working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people

Customised learning resources

The Institute also has the capability to create customised learning resources in any of our program areas. For more details go to Resource Development.
