We provide workforce development training customised to organisations’ needs covering a wide range of topic areas.

Skills for Working

The Institute offers customised training packages that we can tailor specifically for your organisations needs. We can provide the training at our location or we can bring the training to you. We provide workforce development to both regional and rural organisations.

Examples of some of the Skills for Working programs we produce include:

  • Inter-Cultural Communication
  • Difficult Behaviours in the Workplace
  • Facilitating a Group
  • Managing Stress
  • Public Speaking.

We also offer a range of Basic Counselling Skills courses that are popular:

  • The Accidental Counsellor
  • Basic Counselling Skills
  • Extended Counselling Skills.

Customised learning resources

The Institute also has the capability to create customised learning resources in any of the following areas: mental health, counselling, childhood sexual abuse, gambling rehabilitation, working with multicultural communities, working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities, hepatitis C and HIV, relationship education, mediation.

Resources the Institute has created include:

  • square - a resource for professional who work with people at risk of suicide
  • Taking Care With Culture – a guide for Home & Community Care services working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people
  • Point of Contact  – a training resource for responding to children and domestic violence.
