Course Overview
This nationally recognised Graduate Diploma qualification equips you with the knowledge and skills to register as an FDRP with the Federal Attorney General. Designed for professionals in law, psychology, social work, mediation, and related fields, this qualification extends your practice to specialise in family dispute resolution. It provides expertise in asset and debt identification, property settlements, parenting agreements, and child wellbeing, enabling you to support families in managing disputes, with supervised dispute resolution work under an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) Graduates gain the ability to apply non-adversarial, child-inclusive principles, understand the legal aspects of family mediation, and address issues like family violence, mental health, and child harm. Upon completion, you’ll be qualified to work as an FDRP, mediator, or manager in various community sector roles, helping couples and families resolve disputes about children’s wellbeing and financial settlements.
Prerequisites
Successful candidates must meet one of the following criteria: hold an undergraduate degree or higher qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Law, Conflict Management, Dispute Resolution, Family Law Mediation, or an equivalent field; hold accreditation under the National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS); possess the Mediation skill set from the Community Services Training Package (CHC); or provide documented evidence of experience in a dispute resolution role that involves self-directed application of in-depth knowledge, independent judgment, decision-making, and a range of technical and other skills.

2 Identifying and Responding to Wellbeing and Safety Risks
- CHCDFV001 Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence
- CHCDFV008 Manage responses to domestic and family violence in family work
- CHCDFV012 Make safety plans with people who have been subjected to domestic and family violence
- CHCFDV013 Manage domestic and family violence screening and risk assessment processes
3 Family Agreements and Professional Practice
- CHCFAM007 Assist clients to develop parenting arrangements
- CHCDSP001 Facilitate dispute resolution in the family law context
4 Family Dispute Resolution Practice
- CHCDSP002 Adhere to ethical standards in family dispute resolution
- CHCDSP003 Support the safety of vulnerable parties in family dispute resolution

Fee
Full fee $11,000 Eligible candidates can apply for VET Student Loans (VSL).
