Course Overview
Given the recent changes to the Family Law Act, this year’s annual Pathways Forum will explore how the best interests of the child can be served within the post-separation sector.
Forum Topics:
- Family Law for the children: A judicial perspective with Justice Chris Mead of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (“FCFCOA”).
- The Child’s Voice with Tess Kong, Clinical psychologist and family consultant at T. Kong Consulting.
- Working with Children and Parents with Andreas Doerr, coordinator of the Families in Focus Program at AnglicareSA and Sarah Samson and Chanchal Yadav who are children’s workers in the KidsAreFirst program.
- Post Separation Cooperative Parenting with a Regional Perspective from Prue Sinoch, regional manager, Relationships Australia SA.
- Creating Space for Children to Speak About Family Separation from Jamie Lee, practice manager Family DOORS at Relationships Australia SA.
- Child Focused Information Session with Natalia Olson, managing solicitor at Community Justice Services SA Ltd and Sandra Constantine, family dispute resolution practitioner and group facilitator at the Noarlunga Family Relationship Centre operated by Uniting Communities.
- Independent Children’s Lawyers and the new rules with Dr Michelle Fernando Associate Professor in law at the University of South Australia.
- Recent Changes under the Family Law Act with Senior Judicial Registrar Jordan Lewis at the FCFCOA and barrister Melissa Boyle.
